We want to know what you have to say! One of the many ways to do that is by attending our Food Advisory Board.
What is the Food Advisory Board?
A collaboration between the dining hall and students where we meet monthly to take suggestions on how to bridge the gap between the staff and students. Held once a month on the 2nd floor of Marsh Dining Hall, the SSU community meets with the Viking Dining management team and head chefs to discuss ways to improve the dining hall and recent experiences. Free food and/or treats will be available for guests.
Any and all feedback is important and we want to make sure your voice is heard. Can't be there in-person? You are more than welcome to attend virtually! To be added onto the virtual calendar and receive the link to attend virtually, please email caitlin.devine@sodexo.com.

All meetings will be held on the 2nd floor of Marsh Dining and will last from 3:30pm-4:30pm

Meeting Recap: September 18, 2024
"Why aren't the menus the same between Marsh & North?"
Menus are different between North and Marsh due to size constraints between the kitchens. We want to offer students different items between the two kitchens for more variety.
"I would like more veggie options. Where can I find more options in the dining hall?"
There are multiple veggie options at the Savory, Grown, and Mix (salad bar) stations. We also have extended the salad bar at North Campus for more variety and more veggie options.
"I want to have some fish. When can I find fish on the menu?"
We actually have fish on the menu quite frequently. For example, the main entrée on Fridays is usually fish!
"I would like more diversity on the menu. Where can I find information regarding specialty dishes?"
Students can find the menus online, before entering the dining hall, and 2 different options at each food station. If they look on our Instagram (@vikingdiningssu), we showcase a lot of our specialty menus and events there as well. We follow the school’s heritage months and serve authentic ethnic meals every Wednesday during those months. We also collab with a lot of student groups to bring diverse cuisine and heritage dishes to the dining halls. We have made a lot of progress changing the menus based on student feedback from Instagram, the F.A.B. meeting, and the comment cards!

- E-mail Viking Dining management.
- Write feedback on a comment card.
- Ask to speak with our chefs and/or Viking Dining management.
- Social Media - Facebook & Instagram
- Note: if messages are sent after 4:30pm on Fridays, we will respond on Monday morning! If your message is an urgent matter, please go to the nearest Viking Dining location and speak with a manager immediately.
- Speak with the dietitian
- Join the Food Advisory Board (F.A.B.)
- Attend either in person or virtually!

"I can't make the F.A.B. meeting time but I still want to attend. Can you provide other ways for me to join the meeting?"

Meeting Recap: November 6, 2024
"I see you guys do a lot of events at the dining halls. Do you guys also host events at Starbucks?" Absolutely! Every month, we will be hosting a fun event where participants can make their own item. For example during Halloween, Starbucks hosted a pumpkin painting event. On Nov. 20, Starbucks is hosting a Chili Cook-Off between Marsh, North, Starbucks, and the catering team! Visitors will receive free chili and can vote on who had the best one.
Also, we post a lot of Starbucks updates and giveaways on our Instagram. Follow us on @vikingdiningssu to stay informed. You could win some free prizes, too!
"Are you taking feedback on the retail locations? There are some products I would love to see available." Yes, we are. We are currently working on adding more items to the Marketplace for students who need on-the-go items. You can always email or message us your ideas!
"Will you be keeping the same F.A.B. schedule for next semester? Wednesdays don't work for me, unfortunately." We are currently discussing the best times of day to meet for F.A.B. Once finalized, we will post it on our Instagram and around each dining halls. Keep your eyes peeled!
